EFTPOS Central charges a monthly fee of $ 13.50 +GST for each active mobile phone linked to your Merchant Account. There is no setup fee to get started. Local New Zealand payWave cards incur a merchant fee of 2.00% and internationally issued card incur a merchant fee of 3.90%.
NZ cards are debit or credit cards issued by New Zealand banks. International cards are issued by overseas banks.
Each Tap on Mobile user subscription comes with a 3-month minimum term. After that, you can cancel any time with 30 days' notice.
Any business, incorporated society, charity or sole trader in New Zealand can sign up. You will need to complete a simple onboarding process, including identity verification and business details. Issuing of a Tap on Mobile Merchant Facility is at our absolute discretion. Some business types are ineligible based on Scheme rules.
Yes, all transactions are encrypted and processed securely under PCI and EMV mandated security requirements.
Tap on Mobile requires an internet connection to process transactions. If you have no mobile reception, you can connect to Wi-Fi if available. Tap on Mobile does not support offline transactions.
Tap on Mobile works with most modern Android devices with NFC capabilities and Apple iPhones. The minimum software required is Android 12 for Android devices and iOS 16.4 for Apple devices. Check our compatibility list here or contact support to confirm if your device is supported.
Yes, you can view all your transactions in real-time through the Tap on Mobile app. The dashboard provides detailed reports and analytics.
Absolutely. Refunds can be processed directly through the Tap on Mobile app. Just select the transaction you wish to refund and follow the prompts.

Like banks, lawyers, and real estate agents, we’re legally required to comply with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer(KYC) regulations as part of providing financial services in New Zealand.
Technically yes, but it’s not recommended. Only one device can be logged in with the same User ID at a time. If you want to take payments on multiple phones at once, you'll need additional User IDs.
No. This is known as "Card Not Present" processing and is not supported by Tap on Mobile. All cards must be tapped physically or via a mobile wallet.
Error 203 occurs when biometrics are not enabled. Ensure Face ID, Fingerprint ID, or Passcode is set up on your device to meet the app's security requirements.
